PLEASE NOTE

As from Tuesday 3rd June there will be an increase on some (not all) of our prices. On most items it is a very small amount but unfortunately the price of fish particularly cod has gone up month on month and is still increasing.  We have managed to hold our prices for the last 14 months but now have no option but to increase our prices.

We are trying our hardest to keep our prices as low as possible and if you look around you will see that we are still well under the average price for cod and chips and many other items. WE WILL ALSO BE SELLING ATLANTIC POLLOCK AT A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER INTRODUCTORY PRICE OF £4.00 (regular price £4.30) Pollock is a sustainable, responsibly caught white fish from healthy stocks, part of the COD FAMILY with a mild sweet flavour and a tender, flaky texture.

We rely heavily on the support of local customers and not tourism and we know how hard the cost of living crisis has hit everybody.  For most people now a takeaway is a treat rather than a cheap week night tea.

We hope that you will continue to support us whenever you can.  Top shop has been on the corner of Clarence Road for over 90 years.  I hope it remains for at least another 90, but the sad fact is that with brexit, covid and now the cost of living crisis, energy cost and fish prices, many fish and chip shops and other hospitality businesses just are not going to make it.

Kind Regards

Elaine & Frank
